John has been employed in the field of economic development in the Kansas City metro area since 1988. He began his economic development career at the Kansas City Area Development Council as the Manager of Business Development working to recruit new businesses to the bi-state metro area.
In 1994 he became the first president of the Southwest Johnson County Economic Development Corporation representing Edgerton, Gardner and New Century, Kansas located in metropolitan Kansas City.
In 2001 John was hired by Aquila as the Manager of Economic Development for Aquila’s northern service territory in Missouri. In 2008, KCP&L purchased Aquila. John currently works as the Manager of Economic Development with KCP&L communities within the metropolitan area in both Kansas and Missouri.
John is a graduate of the Heartland Basic Economic Development Course and the Economic Development Institute. He earned is certification in economic development in 1994. He is currently the Immediate-Past President of the Missouri Economic Development Council, and Vice President of the Board of Directors of the Utility Economic Development Association. He is a member of the International Economic Development Council.
John is a board member of the Platte County Economic Development Council (EDC), Liberty EDC, the Parkville EDC and the Saint Joseph Chambers Economic Development Executive Committee.
